The Overland Park Convention Center anchors Johnson County’s hotel and corporate corridor at 6000 College Boulevard, attached to the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel and surrounded by a dense cluster of hotels along College Boulevard and 119th Street. OPCC hosts a steady mix of medium-sized corporate conventions, recurring industry trade events, association meetings, and B2B expos that prefer the easier highway access, free parking, and suburban hotel base that downtown Kansas City can’t match. For attendees flying into the metro, OPCC is also closer to KCI Airport than Bartle Hall is.
How We Serve OPCC Attendees
We deliver mobility scooters to your hotel before your check-in — never to OPCC itself. Convention loading docks at OPCC, like at any major convention venue, are scheduled around show contractor freight rather than individual rental handoffs, and the hotel-based delivery model is far more reliable for attendees moving on variable schedules.
In practice, your scooter is staged at the Sheraton Overland Park bell stand (or at whatever Johnson County hotel you’ve booked) before your scheduled arrival. You take possession at check-in, ride or rideshare to OPCC each morning of the convention, and the scooter goes back to the hotel with you each night for overnight charging. We pick up at your hotel on whatever schedule fits your departure. For attendees staying at the attached Sheraton, the trip to OPCC is a short indoor walk through the connecting corridors.
About the Venue
The Overland Park Convention Center is a modern, single-purpose convention facility that opened in the early 2000s and has been the suburban convention destination for Johnson County and the Kansas side of the KC metro ever since. The building includes a single contiguous exhibit hall, a divisible ballroom, multiple meeting rooms, and pre-function spaces designed for the kind of mid-sized corporate and association events that OPCC books most consistently.
The venue’s surrounding ecosystem is part of what makes it work as a convention destination. The attached Sheraton Overland Park is the host hotel for many OPCC events. Within a short drive: the Marriott Overland Park, Embassy Suites, Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn, Aloft, and a handful of extended-stay properties that handle longer convention runs. The College Boulevard and 119th Street restaurant ecosystem covers business breakfasts, conference lunches, and dinner receptions without anyone having to drive far.
OPCC also benefits from being part of Overland Park’s larger commercial and corporate base. Several Johnson County corporate annual meetings — financial services, telecommunications, agriculture, healthcare — make OPCC their default annual venue, and the venue’s recurring trade show calendar fills out the rest of the year.
Accessibility at the Overland Park Convention Center
OPCC is fully ADA-compliant and was designed with accessibility built in from the start.
Entrances. Multiple accessible entrances around the building, with automatic doors and gradual ramps from the parking areas. The main attendee entrances are wide enough to handle high-volume convention check-in flow without bottlenecks.
Interior circulation. The single-level exhibit hall is one of OPCC’s accessibility advantages. Once you’re on the show floor, you don’t need to navigate stairs, escalators, or elevator transitions to reach any part of the exhibit. Aisle widths on typical show setups accommodate personal mobility scooters with comfortable margin.
Elevators. Elevators serve the meeting room levels and the ballroom pre-function area. Cab sizes accommodate standard mobility scooters.
Restrooms. ADA-compliant restrooms are distributed throughout the building.
Accessible seating in event spaces. Ballroom and meeting room setups accommodate scooter parking either at the rear of the room or along designated access aisles. OPCC’s events team coordinates with show organizers on accessible seating arrangements.
Parking. Free attendee parking surrounds the building, with accessible spaces marked near each main entrance. The walk from accessible parking to the building is short and on level pavement.
Connection to the Sheraton. The attached hotel connects to OPCC via interior corridor, which means Sheraton guests can roll from their hotel room to the convention floor without going outside.
Getting From Your Hotel to OPCC
Most OPCC attendees stay either at the attached Sheraton or in the nearby hotel cluster. Distances are short and routes are simple.
Sheraton Overland Park — Connected directly to the convention center via interior corridor. The easiest hotel-to-venue path of any KC convention destination.
Marriott Overland Park — A short drive or rideshare away. Sidewalks along College Boulevard accommodate scooter travel in good weather, but most attendees rideshare given the suburban street layout.
Embassy Suites Olathe / Embassy Suites Overland Park — Similar pattern: short drive, easy rideshare access to the OPCC main entrance.
Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn, and extended-stay properties — All within a short rideshare distance. We coordinate hotel storage and delivery whether you’re booked for two nights or two weeks.
Drive-in attendees — Free accessible parking is available adjacent to the main entrances. If you’re driving, the scooter rides comfortably in any standard SUV or full-size sedan trunk. The walk from accessible parking to the OPCC main entrance is short and on level pavement, with weather protection at the entrance overhang for drop-offs in rain or snow. For attendees splitting time between OPCC and an offsite event elsewhere in Johnson County or downtown KC, a multi-day rental travels easily between locations and accommodates whatever the broader convention schedule requires.
Equipment Recommendations
For a typical OPCC convention or trade show, a four-wheel travel scooter with moderate to strong battery range is the right tool.
Battery range. OPCC days are usually shorter than Bartle Hall days because the venue is smaller — most attendees cover three to six miles in a day, including the trip from the hotel and time on the show floor. A standard travel scooter battery handles a full day comfortably with overnight charging.
Maneuverability. The exhibit hall and meeting rooms at OPCC have slightly tighter aisle setups than the largest Bartle Hall halls. A compact four-wheel travel scooter with a smaller turning radius is often the best fit.
Comfortable seat. The same recommendation as for any multi-day rental: a contoured seat with a backrest improves stamina across consecutive show days.
Travel-friendly. If you’re flying in to OPCC for a short convention and want a model that’s easy to handle through the rental flow, we’ll match a unit accordingly. For full-week corporate annual meetings, we may step up to a slightly larger model with extended range.
We talk through model selection at booking and adjust based on your specific OPCC event, hotel, and schedule.
Booking and Hospitality Framing
For most OPCC conventions, two weeks ahead is comfortable. For the largest recurring B2B trade shows and the corporate annual meetings that fill the attached Sheraton, three weeks is better. Vendor teams booking multi-unit rentals for booth staff should plan four to six weeks ahead so we can guarantee inventory.
KC Mobility Scooter Rentals is a hospitality rental service. We are not a medical provider, we do not bill insurance, Medicare, employer health plans, or workers’ compensation, and we do not require documentation of need. OPCC convention rentals are direct-pay, treated like any other rental car or hotel reservation, and most attendees expense them like any other business-travel cost. If you have specific health questions about whether mobility equipment is appropriate for you, please consult your physician. For the convention itself — the dates, the hotel, and the equipment that gets you through three or four days at OPCC — we are the people to call.
